Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium Update

The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (Smarter Balanced or SBAC) isguided by the belief that a high-quality assessment system can provide information and tools for teachers and schools to improve instruction that is aligned with the Common Core State Standards in ELA/literacy and mathematics. The Smarter Balanced assessment system is being designed to do just that. As it is still in early development, there are many questions to be addressed and information disseminated to constituent groups.

ET News: Tech Readiness Tool Updates (8 January 2013)

On January 14th, several enhancements will be introduced to the Technology Readiness Tool. The following list is a high-level overview of the changes. For a detailed description of each change, you may refer to the last posting of ET News, or access them on the Assess4Ed.net site in the NH Group resources area.

ET News: Enhancements Announced for Tech Readiness Tool (7 January 2013)

On January 14th, the Technology Readiness Tool will display new enhancements.  Here is a summary of the enhancements/changes to the tool. 

Note: 

In some cases, functionality will be the same, but accessed from different points in the tool.

In some cases, input variable parameters may change and will have to be updated in your data to be accurate with your information.  New choices are available, or a new variable for old choices.

These directions are designed  for schools that have already input device data in the Technology Readiness Tool system and would like to edit data fields based on the updated January 14th Device Data Layout. Users can update device data when system modifications are implemented..

There are two ways to complete device information:

1.     Manually enter data through the user interface.

The next data extraction from the Technology Readiness Tool is Friday, Deember 14th.

Since the reset of your submission status in OCtober, only 19% of NH schools have submitted their data into the tool for extraction by SBAC.

To join, go to assess4ed.net, click on the “create an account” link below the login icon, provide a user name, your name, state, job title, organization, and accept the terms of use.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “request membership”.   The community manager will be notified of your request and will activate your membership within 1-2 business days.
